Is this the end?

     There was a low rumble in the sky that led me to believe that the storm was getting closer. As the emergency alarm sounded off, people rushed to finish putting the wooden boards against their windows hoping that it would lessen the damage. Blankets, flashlights and snacks were taken into the basement ahead of time in case it was a long wait. 
    "Why did we live somewhere where we had to take shelter from the weather?" I questioned myself, but I wouldn't dare ask aloud.
    It looked to me as though my parents had enough to worry about at the moment. With extra batteries and flashlights in my arm, I made my way back into the basement and got comfortable along side the wall away from the windows.
